Our Day Out
This year sees the launch of a web initiative called ‘Our Day Out.’ The purpose of the project is to utilise a photographic archive amassed by Keith Medley, a commercial and press photographer who worked throughout Merseyside.
Keith Medley’s family donated the collection to LJMU in 2009. For more information please see the link below:
Beginning in September a series of workshops will be organised, with assistance from a local community group called the ‘Lee Pensioners Club’ (affectionately known as the big kids club) based in the Belle Vale district of Liverpool. It’s expected that student volunteers will work alongside the group to collect memories and anecdotes inspired by a selection of photographs drawn from the collection depicting a typical family day out during the early 60s.
It’s hoped that we will be able to add voice to the collection and inspire further participation through a series of workshops that will see the creation of personalised post cards, which will form part of a planned exhibition later in the year.
