The BA (Hons) Media Production degree has been awarded the Creative Skillset Tick.

The Creative Skillset Tick is the quality mark identifying the courses that best prepares an individual for a career in the Creative Industries. As Creative Skillset reports, “students completing ticked degree programmes are three times more likely to be employed within the Creative Industries than students completing non-ticked degrees.” (Creative Skillset)

It was awarded the Creative Skillset Tick following a rigorous assessment process last academic year. The accreditation process involved industry representatives visiting Liverpool Screen School – meeting staff, students, alumni and industry, and culminated in a panel.

The panel considered the students work, the structure of the course and its links with industry. Also assessing graduate destinations and employability statistics, to establish that the course does prepare graduates to work in media.

Creative Skillset’s panel report noted some areas of the course of which we are proud:

“Students came across as confident, self-starting and genuinely passionate about the course.”

“The level of some of the students work was confident and inspired. A number of pieces felt fresh, original and were broadcast quality.”

“The students were very positive and enthusiastic about the outline of the course. They had a clear understanding of the changing nature of media and that the course reflected this; encouraging students to work on multi platforms and to understand the convergence of media.”

“There were good links with local media companies both new and more established.”

“The tutors understood the importance of students networking and getting work within the industry at the end of the course and were very accessible to the students for advice and encouragement.”
